WHY RESEARCH IS VITAL

110,000 people live with a blood cancer in the UK and more will develop one in the future.

Leukaemia research is the only national charity devoted to researching those cancers - Leukaemia, Hogkinsons and other lymphomas, myeloma and other blood disorders. Leukaemia research aims to give everyone the best survival rate.

Survival rates are increasing and treatments are improving for all cancer patients, particularly children affected by leukaemia. Thanks to nearly fifty years of investment in the best research, 8 out 0f 10 children now survive Leukaemia.

Leukaemia research want to achieve so much more for patients of various ages, whatever blood cancer they are affected by. This is possible if we can fund the research with your support, with this funding Leukameia research can help more people to survive.

WHERE THE MONEY RAISED GOES

Leukaemia research rely entirely upon voluntary donations. They spend every pound very carefully so you can be sure that your contributions will make a big difference.

£25 - Could pay for a full set of booklets giving patients and their families information about their cancer when they need it most.

£50 -  Could pay for a pioneering test to measure the number of Leukaemia cells in the patients blood, helping doctors to give appropriate doses of treatment.

£200 - Could buy 200 kits to extract DNA from blood samples to see if there are any genetic faults and help diagnose cancers more effectively.

£600 - Could pay for MRD ( Minimal Residual Disease) test which checks whether the child is responding to treatment and helps the doctor decide if it needs to be intensified or decreased.

My father Peter Turner, died 21st September, 2003, after suffering from Leukaemia.

With the help of all the girls pictured in the calendar, photographer Jane Shorrock, graphic designer Phil Hall, make up artist Rebeca Forshaw and Scott Stevens from PC Firm (website), I have put together a calendar which i hope will help raise awareness of Leukaemia and blood cancers and help raise money for such a worthy cause.
